Packing for Provence

Updated: May 2, 2023

I am so excited to be traveling to Provence this summer and these travels will literally kick off my website. I have felt so fallow after my divorce and I decided in order to remedy that I would travel to Provence and see if my creative juices would start to flow.

In planning I of course am coming up with a packing list: So here goes….

Clothing:

  • Lightweight tops and t-shirts-lots of stripes

  • Breathable pants or shorts-of course Stretch

  • Sun hat

  • Sunglasses

  • Swimsuit

  • Cover-up or sarong for the beach

Footwear:

  • Comfortable walking shoes or sneakers-I decided to go with Jack Rogers comfort sandals

  • Sandals or flip-flops for the beach, and some Tekes

Sun protection:

  • Sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher-Sheisedo

  • After-sun lotion-aloe

  • Lip balm with SPF-RMF and also some chapstick with sunscreen

  • Wide-brimmed hat

  • Sunglasses

Personal items:

  • Insect repellent

  • Medications (prescription and over-the-counter)

  • First-aid kit

  • Personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.)

  • Travel-sized hand sanitizer

Electronics:

  • Camera and my smartphone

  • Charger and adapter for devices

  • Portable battery charger

Miscellaneous:

  • Lightweight backpack or a tote bag for treasures

  • Travel guidebook or map

  • Phrasebook or language translation app

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Snacks for the road

Provence is a beautiful region with many opportunities for outdoor activities, so I feel it's important to pack comfortable clothing and footwear. Sun protection is essential, as the summer sun can be quite strong. Insect repellent is also recommended, especially as I plan to spend time outdoors in the evenings. Don't forget to pack your personal items, medications, and any electronics you may need. A backpack or tote bag is useful for carrying your essentials and for bringing treasures home, while a travel guidebook or map can help you navigate the region. And finally, don't forget to stay hydrated by carrying a reusable water bottle with you at all times. I am also packing my sketchbook, watercolors, pencils, and an ink pen to capture the essence of Provence,

Luckily I am able to do a week in Lacoste France with SCAD where we will partake in painting, sketching, and photography. I am so excited to finally live this dream…
